American Museum of Natural History

The Cloisters Museum & Gardens

Located in Washington Heights, this museum comes as a fantasyland for kids. The artifacts are perfect for youngsters who are about knights and princesses. Weekly, family programs are offered to help kids and parents learn more of the medieval art. Upcoming programs include medieval knights, medieval masons and sculptors, tell me a story! Medieval menagerie- Gold, Silver and Jewels!

DiMenna Children’s History Museum at the New-York Historical Society

This museum allows kids to explore through the eyes of children from past generations. It occupies the entire lower city of the society museum and library. It includes children’s history library, interactive exhibits, games and character based pavilions in which children can learn about historical figures. The museum offers a retrospective on newsboys of the Broadway hit newsies.

Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Complex

Intrepid Sea is a fascinating place to see fighter jets and space shuttle on the deck of an aircraft carrier, this museum features Broadway stars in person appearances from professional athletes, puppetry, circus acts and projects that tie into intrepid exhibits. Kids Week activities are free with admission to the museum.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The museum hosts weekly family programs, including toddler story time, drop-in art workshops and Start with Art at the Met, an introduction to art for kids ages 3–7, all of which are free with museum admission. Though the museum is usually closed on Mondays, it opens up on select days and holidays.

Museum of Modern Art
It sounds pretty adult. The museum offers family gallery talks that look closely at some of the bright and dazzling works of art in the building. Kids sign up for hands-on art workshops like supersize it!
