Gravitate to the chill-out zone at the back for atmospheric drinking – you’ll find flickering candles and a wall of rough-textured natural rock. Desden
Fellow early-opener Desden carries on with the cafe-bar motif. Friendly people seem to gravitate towards this cheap and cheerful venue, located a short walk from the harbour. Sit outside on the streets and watch the world go past before ordering some tapas for an afternoon snack. You’ll usually be treated to some relaxing jazz on the stereo – perfect for those warm summer evenings.
Celestial Copas
The interior of Celestial Copas is decidedly weird, with the walls decorated with odd religious art and peculiar artefacts. As such, it’s much more fun to visit after you’ve had a few, and even better if you’re intending to have a few more. Great drinks, fantastic atmosphere and even live music on certain days make it deserving of the third location on our bar crawl.
La Llum
A tiny bar that carries the party on well into the night, you’ll find the dance floor heaving on most evenings. Located on Padre Maltes, be sure to dress accordingly for this chic and stylish venue.
Desafinado
Good jazz, excellent DJs and a whole lot of atmosphere – it’s worth booking a cheap flight to Alicante purely to experience this buzzing club. Featuring only the latest in popular music and a wide variety of club nights, it’s a great place to dance the night away. Attracting an enthusiastic crowd, Desafinado is always fresh, modern and very funky.
Z Klub
When the rest of the venues are packing up and the majority of clubbers are going home to get their heads down, there’s always Z Club. This underground bar doesn’t really get going until 3am, so don’t head there before unless you want to be dancing on your own. If you prefer your partying to go on until morning, this is where to go when the music turns off elsewhere.
